Annual APA convention allows counterpoint on homosexuality.

  1. It's easy to prove your point when you slant the actual findings and give people only half-truths. This is what the APA actually says about "changing" your sexual orientation:

"Based on this review, the task force recommended that mental health professionals avoid misrepresenting the efficacy of sexual orientation change efforts when providing assistance to people distressed about their own or others' sexual orientation."

    and:

" "At most, certain studies suggested that some individuals learned how to ignore or not act on their homosexual attractions.""

You can choose to deny your true feelings and pretend that you're not gay. You can get married, have children, raise a family and do all of the things that heterosexuals do but you CANNOT change your orientation.

The report can be found in the following link: http://www.apa.org/topics/sexuality/orientation.aspx

  2. The above link was a Q&A on orientation. The full APA report can be found here:

Also, if anyone would like to see an interview with an openly gay man and an "ex-gay" man from 1979 it can be found in the link below. It's an amazing look at where we were in 1979 in reference to our understanding of gay issues and how far we've come. The gay man, Brian McNaught, was (and still is) a very spiritual Christian man with a superb understanding of the Bible. He is a very compelling speaker and, considering the time, shows great strength and conviction in his views. The "ex-gay" man comes off as being argumentative and condescending and, in the end, does not does not further his cause.

The ex-gay" man, was working with the Anita Bryant Institute at the time of the interview, but he left ABI the following year. We don't know his whereabouts. Brian McNaught, the openly gay man, has been with his partner 35 years who does training on gay issues in corporate America. Check it out.

  4. Anyone can write a story like this and present it as truth. To me this story is proof that in a world where gay people are vilified so much and to such a great extent, by people like you and those whom you seem to admire - Bryan Fischer and Peter LaBarbera and other such hateful homophobes - some are so desperate to hide their true nature that they'll do anything to fit in. How sad! Imagine having to pretend that you weren't a heteroseparatist just to fit in. Worse yet, imagine having to hide it because you might be persecuted if you didn't.

To you I present the ex-ex-gay:

And here we have two of the founding members of Exodus International who are now ex-ex-gays. Theirs is a very compelling story:

    God bless you!
