Response to Rob Tish.

Okay Rob.

I saw your video and I have a question for you. If you want to hear the question, I will only post your answer to the question if the first word of your responding post is a "yes" or a "no." You can talk all you want to after the initial "yes" or "no," but I will not post your response if the first word of it isn't an initial "yes" or "no." (I know how much you love using homosophistry and I'm trying to save myself some time here.) Do you want to hear the question?

  1. ha ha ha i'm glad your world view can be condensed down to "yes" and "no" answers. most people are a bit more... sophisticated than that. i guess there's some kind of bliss in binary thinking.

  2. Not that you can damage your reputation much more than you already have with this insane blog, but proudly declaring that you only accept yes or no answers will pretty much do it.

If you're going to have a debate, have the bravery to have it in full. Otherwise people find you either intellectually dishonest or wilfully ignorant. Yes/no answers don't cut it, and throwing a temper tantrum about only posting a yes or no reply... yikes.

  4. But you'll never refer to the "after". You'll only refer to the yes or no. You're forcing a complex issue into a binary response, and that's just not how it works.

Like, "Do you like cookies? Yes or no answer!" And then I say "Yes. Except for cookies that are made with chocolate or nuts, because I have a severe reaction to both of those. And I don't like fruit in my cookies either. So I guess I really just like the plain cookies like oatmeal or arrowroot". But from then on, you'd consider yourself perfectly within your rights to say "Grace gave me a firm YES, that she likes cookies!"

Doesn't work that way, at least not with rational debate. And certainly doesn't work when you're discussing a complex issue that's as tied up with biology and psychology as religious dogma.
